After all the discussing and time spent in September and October, it appears as if we're back at Step 1: Find a banquet hall.
As we get closer to the date, it seems to be getting more difficult to locate a banquet hall which is available with reasonable pricing.
ALL SAC members are expected to post a banquet hall they have researched/found along with if they're available and possibly even pricing.
No excuses guys, Semi is for everyone and this is a team effort. : )

ReplyDeleteLa Vedette Banquets
ReplyDeletehttp://www.lavedette.com/
It's approx 26 minutes away from the school
they are available
they said 200-250 is perfect and they can do either sit down or buffet which ever we prefer
decorations are allowed
and it'll cost approx $30-35 per person ! : D
I saw Fontana, and omg, the pics of the food sold me. hopefully it's as great as it looks and sounds. la vedette looked okay, couldn't tell too much by the pics.
ReplyDeleteI called up Embers Banquet Hall.
Dec 3rd is on hold by me until we confirm it.
The buffet AND sit-down meal is both $21, which includes unlimited pop (she brought it down for me :D ). they can hold up to 450 people and make it smaller according to our size. and their dance floor can hold up to our amount of 250 people or w/e. on the site it says that prices include colour-coordinated seats covers and serviettes, so hopefully all that is included in the price. we set up an appointment with them on monday after school at 4:30 so P.S. SAKEES! YOU'RE DRIVING PLEASE AND THANK YOU :D LOL
Hello all!
ReplyDeleteOkay so, Spirale only has a room available for 150 people, so that is not going to work. I spoke with premiere, and the function that is already booked with them is using both rooms, so, Premiere is out of the question. I called Le Parc which is in the same area as Premiere, and they are available on the 3rd of December. I think we should consider it because the distance is excellent, it looks like a nice place, and so yeah...what do the rest of you think???
sarts
by the way the website is:
ReplyDeletewww.leparc.ca

sarts
^ I ended up calling Le Parc too, i didn't realize sarts already did so , but yeah they said that the date of december 3rd is available .. and if you go on to their website they have some special offers listed. One of them being a prom special that includes;
ReplyDeleteSalad of your choice
Pasta
Boneless Breast of Chicken, Roasted Potatoes, Medley of Market Vegetables
Dessert
Sherbert Trio
Coffee * Tea * Soft Drinks
DJ service included
Price Per Person: $45.00 taxes included
OR
they offer another christmas special , which i wasn't too sure about in terms of food but its a reasonable price :
Christmas Special
Dinner
assorted baked rolls & butter
Soup: puree of butternut squash with ginger
Entree: stuffed breast of chicken herbed, roasted potatoes, medley of vegetables
Dessert
chocolate tartufo with fresh strawberries
Coffee * Tea * Espresso * Soft Drinks * Juice
From: $38.00 per person plus applicable taxes & services
DJ service from $499.00
BTW in case you guys wanna look at other banquet halls , i found this website that lists the major banquet hall venues that are convenient locations:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.guidingstar.ca/Markham_Banquet_Halls.htm
ps. Le parc is a 15 minute drive from school. VERY ideal location :)
ReplyDeleteI agree Rathore!
ReplyDeleteI actually called Le Parc on friday as well...but the problem is the price. I spoke to mario (the manager) and told him that it was out of our budget and he basically said that doing an event for less than $40 per person is not really feasable.
ReplyDeletenot to mention... chair covers are not included in that price !
ReplyDeleteA lot of schools have their semi at Le Parc; however, it seems out of our price range. I think students rather drive 30 minutes versus pay an extra $20
ReplyDelete: )
Alright so I looked at the places that Meghna mentioned, and they are both located around Keele and Highway 7, which is near Wonderland in Vaughn. Pretty far drive if you don't take the highway, so going to check out the hall might be a problem, since I can't dive on the highway lol. Embers isn't too bad, so that should not be a problem. I'm not sure if we talked about New Jaasmine Banquet Hall, but I called anyway, but it went to voice message, so hopefully they will call me back. But it is located pretty close to the school. Here's the website: www.newjaasmin.ca.
ReplyDeleteI also called shangri -la banquet hall, which looks really nice from the pictures, but it also went to voice message. Located very close to the school, and here is the website: www.shangrilabanquet.com.
ReplyDeletehey guys
ReplyDeleteso i called Woodbine Banquet Hall and i think it's a veryy veryy reasonablee price :P it's $25.00 per person and that includes food, service, table clothes, cutlery and i think the guy said the chair covers too but im not sure about that one. it's available on december3rd and about the meals.. he didnt really specify the actual dishes but he said there'll be a veggie and meat dish so yeahh, and it's 30 minutes away from milliken . i also tried putting it on hold but he said they dont hold over the phone :P.
check the website its soo0oooo prettty!
www.woodbinebanquet.com
Ughhhh... I called Fortress Banquet Hall and Eclipse Banquet Room but they both went to voice mail! I'm still searching up more banquet halls, so I will get back to you guys.
ReplyDeletebtw, I also found a website for banquet halls near us. You can find banquet halls in the area you want.

http://www.n49.ca/p/scarborough:669/banquethalls/banquet_halls/place
Hey Nuha. I checked out the website, it looks really nice, but it's a bit far, near Pearson International Airport.
ReplyDeleteOh ye... I checked out shangri-la also. I was wondering why they weren't picking up... It is because there office is closed on sat. and sun. I have to call them up on monday. But Sakees is right, it looks nice by the pictures.
ReplyDeleteYES! I finally got hold of a place... Its rembandt banquet hall located 930 Progress Avenue
ReplyDeleteScarborough, Ontario M1G 3T5. Phone number 416-438-4711. Soooooo, I asked if DECEMBER 3rd was available, she said yes. It's $30 per person (I brought it down from $40) and its a sit down meal. She didn't specify fully what is included in the price but ye I will call back and ask her.
http://www.rembrandtbanquethalls.com/location.html
ReplyDeleteHey Vinieth. I didn't realize the office isn't open on weekends. I'll try calling on monday then. Also, I checked out the rembrandt website, and the only issue is there are 3 rooms, one that can hold 500 people, and the other two can only hold 100 and 150 people. So, since we are having around 250 the rooms might be too big or too small.
ReplyDeleteyeah i looked at Rembrandt as well.... and besides the size of the rooms, the pictures were'nt realy that nice. I feel like it looks more like a community centre :S..... and I think that woodbine is a bit far.
ReplyDeleteRembrdandt wasn't too bad, like the markham room or one of them had florescent lighting which was ...ick..
ReplyDeleteOh !
ReplyDeleteI remember last year it was between Grand Bacchus and New Jaasmin, i still might have the E-Mail, what does everyone else think?
there;s Peter and Pauls too
ReplyDeletebut i tried calling but no one picked up
416 562 7801
its like a 15 minute drive from milliken
i think :P
If I recall, the New Jasmin was very hidden/secluded. Everyone, try to minimize the distance by completing the square....no, just kidding, cause I'm thinking about students in grades 10 and 11. 30 minutes is too far of a drive to try to expect parents to drop off and then pick up again. I am going to call Le Parc, and try to bargain/possibly even going in person. What do the rest of you think?
ReplyDeletesarts
Sir, if you can get Le Parc, I think it'll be perfect !
ReplyDeleteyeah to be quite honest Le Parc is ideal... please try bargaining... even if it means we may have to sacrifice something from the menu (e.g. i was thinking if we can get the christmas special minus the hors d'oeurves? )
ReplyDeleteor the soup? : )
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Le Parc looks really nice, and located a good distance away, and yes I would be fine without soup :).
ReplyDeletehey guys
ReplyDeleteok so my friend was calling banquet halls today to book them for her birthday and she told me that she'll check if they have spots available for december 3rd and she called princess and swagat and they said they were free on the 3rd..
Hello!
ReplyDeleteSo this weekend I did some banquet-hall hunting, and I found this really great place (by the looks of the website) called "Fontana Gardens Banquet Hall". I called the hall and asked more about pricing and I was told that they charge $30, and this price includes the total price of the hall, linens (chair covers) and the following food items in the general menu:
Appetizer, 1 pasta dish, 1 chicken entree with sides (potatoes and veggies), and a dessert. They will also provide juice/soda at the bar. The pictures look good and the people that I spoke with seemed very friendly as well as professional. December 3rd is available as of now... I mapquested the directions and the hall is approximately 25 minutes away from us (without using the highway).
Here is the website: http://www.fontanagardens.com/home.

ReplyDeleteAnd now I realize that Meghna already posted that information... lol. NVM! But I really like that place! Is it really too far?
ReplyDeleteI also called "Le Jardin" and "Supreme Banquet Hall" and left messages...but both those locations are in Woodbridge so I doubt it's an option right now, especially if we're considering distance.
ReplyDeleteHey everyone
ReplyDeleteDo you know that Manderin has a banquet hall too? Just throwing that out there, alot of people love to go to Manderin and having our semi there will be interesting and a new approach.
I called them and they said that they'll get back to me tommorrow when their supervisors are in.
Personally, I wouldn't want my semi at Manderin, I'd be kind of embarassed...but keep thinking. : )
ReplyDeleteI called Le Parc again everyone, and the price of $40 is the best they can do. Keep in mind that this includes taxes and gratuities. If my memory serves me correct, last year at Grand Baccus, we paid $36 which I believe was before taxes. Seat covers are $2 extra, so that would work out to $42 per person. I think we would almost have to charge $40 per person, and even then we would still have to pay for seat covers ourselves + security + DJ. What do you guys think about charging $40 for the semi?
ReplyDeleteSir, that bothers me
ReplyDeleteWe're doing security, Dj and Seat covers ourself thats alot of money.
At the same time if we increase semi prices, alot of people won't buy.
If thats the only hall open for us, I guess we don't have a choice.
I think $40 may be too much sir; although it's only $5 it was difficult to get people to purchase $35 tickets...
ReplyDeleteI asked around quickly and the response was "...i don't know, why is it so much?"
is ther absolutely no way to rework the menu or something>?.... and is that the price for their christmas special ?
ReplyDeleteI don't think $40 is too bad considering how nice the hall is. Though, I can see it being a problem for selling tickets. Though, I think that is our best option at this point, and we don't have a lot of time.
ReplyDeletei agree
ReplyDeleteHI GUYS! how was the hall you guys checked out on wednesday ?
